Ecumenical Conference in Pistoia, Italy

(July 30, 2011) “Ethics is the victim rather than the cause of the division among Christians” was the reflection marking the rounding up of the work of the 48th session of the Summer camp, Saturday, at Cianciano Terme, a famous SPA resort in central Italy, conducted by the Secretariat for Ecumenical Activity of the Italian Catholic Church. The central ethical themes of the sessions were bioethics and sexuality. “These days of ecumenical formation represent one of the moments in which Christ becomes the good Samaritan, who comes close to his wounded churches and binding up the wounds leads them to the Jerusalem of his Kingdom”, said Bishop Mansueto Bianchi, Bishop of Pistoia in central Italy, and president of the ecumenical commission and of interreligious dialogue of the Italian Episcopal Conference. The report of the meeting was given by the Vatican daily, L’Osservatore Romano.
