China sacked three senior railway officials on Sunday after a collision between two high-speed
trains on Saturday night killed at least 35 people, raising new questions about the
safety of the fast-growing rail network.
There were over 1,500 passengers
on both trains when they collided in Wenzhou city, and almost 200 of them are still
in the hospital. A lightning strike is thought to have damaged safety features on
