WYD Cross and Icon reaches Madrid
(July 16, 2011) The Cross and Icon of the World Youth Day due to be held next month, will be welcomed with great solemnity into the Almudena Cathedral of Holy Mary in Madrid. on Monday,July 18th. At 8,30 p.m. the same day a prayer vigil will be held in the presence of the Cross, presided over by Cardinal Antonio Mª Rouco Varela, archbishop of Madrid. This will conclude the pilgrimage of the WYD Cross through all the different dioceses of Spain during the last years, in preparation for the World Youth Day which will be held in Madrid from the 16th to the 21st of August, with the participation of Pope Benedict XVIth . Each Vicariate will take turns, from July 18th onwards, in prayer and adoration of the Cross till the beginning of the Youth Day.
