Pope’s letter to the Coldiretti Assembly in Rome

(July 09, 2011) On the occasion of the Coldiretti General Assembly in Rome, with 15 thousand Italian Farming entrepreneurs present, Thursday, Cardinal Secretary of State, Tarcisio Bertone, signed a letter in the Pope’s name addressed to the current President of Coldiretti, Mr Sergio Marini. Coldiretti is the Italian National Farmers’ Federation. .Greeting them warmly, Pope Benedict XVI expressed appreciation of their witness to the values of the rural world. And, assuring his prayers, he urged them to go ahead and make their contribution to the integral advancement of Society, founded on the centrality of the human person, on the safeguard of families, on economic growth, marked by solidarity and to be at the service of the community. He invoked the protection of St Joseph, patron of workers and of the Blessed Virgin, Mother of the Church.
