It’s the time of the year when many people look forward to getting away from it all
on a sandy beach. But the summer holidays also mean paying attention to the extreme
rays of the sun which can cause the skin to burn.
Cancer Research UK is advising
people to stay safe in the sun with its “SunSmart campaign.
“The sun is strong
enough to damage our skin and to give us sun burn and also to develop the risk of
giving us skin cancer”, says the organisation’s senior health officer Jessica Harris.
She
also told Lydia O’Kane that when out in the sun, it is important to use a sunscreen
with both UVA and UVB protection. Listen
