Archbishop Gomez: Pallium a sign of the unity of the Church
One of the bishops receiving the Pallium from Pope Benedict XVI during the Mass for
the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul is the new Archbishop of Los Angeles, California,
José Horacio Gomez. It is the second time he has received the liturgical garment,
since previously he had been Archbishop of San Antonio, Texas.
He told Vatican
Radio the ceremony expresses “the unity of the Church. We are all really the family
of God.”
He also spoke about his new Archdiocese.
“In Los Angeles,
as you probably know, we have a lot of cultures live together and having the same
faith,” he said. “We have Mass in 42 languages every month, so it is a beautiful
reality of the Universal Church.”
