Pope to attend Italy’s National Eucharistic Congress in September
(June 21, 2011) Pope Benedict XVI will make a day’s visit on 11th
September for the closing of Italy’s National Eucharistic Congress in Ancona on the
Adriatic Coast. The announcement was made on Monday by Bishop Edoardo Menichelli
of Ancona during a Press Conference in the Vatican for the presentation of this
XXV National Congress that begins 3rd September and concludes 11th September.
The highlight of this one-day Papal visit will be the celebration of Sunday Mass,
the recitation of the Angelus and a meeting with families and with priests in the
Cathedral of St. Cyriac of Ancona. Bishop Menichelli said the Pope will also hold
the first-ever meeting with engaged couples from all over Italy in Ancona’s main
square . The prelate added that he began this initiative especially to give the couples
preparing for marriage a sound spiritual foundation.. The Pope will leave the Vatican
in a helicopter early Sunday morning and return the same evening.
