Universal church to celebrate Pope’s ordination anniversary
(June 18.06.2011) The Universal Church rallied by the Vatican Congregation for the
clergy is preparing to celebrate the 60th ordination anniversary of Pope
Benedict XVI which falls on the feast day of Sts Peter and Paul, June 29th..A
top Vatican Official, Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, head of the Vatican Press
Office, in his weekly editorial, highlights the pre-eminently priestly character of
the Pope’s life, with his early vocation and ordination at the age of 24, together
with his elder brother and a numerous group of dedicated Catholic youngsters, inspired
by the young priest and Nazi martyr, Alojs Andritzki, beatified recently. This celebration
is also an occasion to pray for more vocations to the priesthood and for the renewal
of the vocation of all priests to sanctity. The Vatican will host the works by 60
artists this summer, in a month-long exhibition erected in the atrium of the Vatican
Paul VI audience hall, beginning July 4th. Details of the month long exhibition entitled
‘The Splendor of Truth, the Beauty of Love’ were unveiled in Rome on Friday. As another
initiative Catholics worldwide are invited to participate in 60 hours of Eucharistic
adoration to mark the anniversary.
