(June 18.06.2011) Pope Benedict XVI is going on his 23rd pastoral voyage
in Italy, for a one-day visit to the Republic of San Marino in North Central Italy.
He will be boarding a helicopter at 8 in the morning of Sunday, at the Vatican heliport
for his one-hour flight to the Republic. Founded in 301 A.D. San Marino is the most
ancient European Republic. Recognized by all the principal world organizations, the
Republic of San Marino can boast an undisputed pre-eminence on themes regarding peace,
freedom and the universal rights of man.. The diocese of the Republic is known by
the name San Marino-Montefeltro whose ordinary is Bishop Luigi Negri. An hour after
landing the Pope will preside over a concelebrated Mass at the Serravalle Stadium.
Then at Liberty square he will be greeted by the Captain Regents, and will meet the
authorities of the Republic and deliver a discourse. Before departure he will have
an encounter with the youth at the Pennabili Sports Stadium.
