There is growing concern over the number of Christian churches that have come under
attack in Indonesia in recent years. A report submitted to Catholic charity Aid to
the Church in Need by the president of the Jakarta Christian Community forum showed
that 14 churches were attacked in the first 5 months of this year.
Since 2006
over 200 Christian places of worship have been desecrated
Speaking about the
attacks, John Pontifex of Aid to the Church in Need said that their primary concern
“is to awaken the world’s conscience to the fact that the Church in different parts
of the world is under attack.”
He also went on to say that despite the attacks
the report found that the Christian community remains strong in its faith. Listen
