Pope’s general prayer intention for June

Nine years ago, Blessed John Paul II instituted the World Day of Prayer for priests to be celebrated annually on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This year, Pope Benedict asks us to pray for priests throughout the entire month of June, which is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus recalls the merciful love of God. Jesus suffered and died on the Cross to save Humanity from sin, and His work continues through the ministry of priests in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The daily Mass celebrated by a priest is the memorial of Jesus’ suffering, death and resurrection. The world today needs dedicated, holy priests. So, in keeping with the Pope’s general prayer intention for June, let us pray for priests daily throughout the month of June , that their hearts beat in unison with the Heart of Jesus, and they become living witnesses of Christ’s love.
