(May 25, 2011) The President of Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious
Dialogue and the Council’s Secretary, are presently in South Korea at the invitation
of the Episcopal Commission for Ecumenism and Dialogue Interfaith. Cardinal Jean-Louis
Tauran and Archbishop Pier Luigi Celata, arrived in Seoul on Monday for the five day
meeting that concludes on Friday. Meetings are scheduled with the President of the
Republic, the Minister of Culture and Director of Religious Affairs. They will also
make visits to the Jogye Order, the center of Korean Buddhism, and the Centre of
Korean Confucianism. Meetings are also scheduled with representatives of Buddhism,
and other local religions. Cardinal Tauran will address a conference in the Major
Seminary in Seoul on "Interreligious Dialogue according to the teaching of Pope Benedict
XVI". The visit will conclude with the celebration of Mass at the Shrine of the
Korean Martyrs'
