Franciscan Custos: urgency and patience in search for peace
There is still a long way to go before the Mideast peace process can begin moving
forward again, despite major policy addresses from US President Barack Obama and Israeli
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Custos of the Holy Land, Franciscan
Fr Pier Battista Pizzaballa told us he understands both the urgency of the need for
peace, and the need to take the long view. “We are still waiting for facts on the
ground,” he said,. Citing the difference between the two parties, which he described
as, “still too [great],” he said, “it will take a long time...to reach a possible
agreement."
