Officials named for Evangelisation Council


(May 14, 2011) Leadership positions for the new Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity have been filled.The Vatican announced Friday that Archbishop José Octavio Ruiz Arenas and Monsignor Graham Bell were named secretary and undersecretary, respectively. Archbishop Ruiz Arenas had been serving as the vice president of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America. The 66-year-old prelate is a native of Colombia. Monsignor Graham Bell had been serving as the secretary and Coordinator of the Pontifical Academy for Life. Archbishop Salvatore Fisichella is the president of the Evangelization council, which Pope Benedict XVI established last year.
