Pope meets another group of India’s catholic bishops on their ad limina visit
(May 12, 2011) A group of Catholic bishops from northeast India on their ad limina
visit met Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday. The ad limina visit is a regular one which
heads of dioceses are required to make every five years to report on the state of
their jurisdictions. Among those who had private audiences with Pope Benedict XVI
were Bishop Lumen Monteiro of Agartala, Bishop Stephen Rotlu-anga of Aizawl, Bishop
Vincent Kympat of Jowai, Bishop Victor Lyngdoh of Nongstoin, Bishop Andrew Marak of
Tura and Bishop Thomas Pulloppillil of Bongaigaon. This year the Indian bishops
are making their ad limina visit to Rome which began in March with the Syro-Malankara
rite bishops. These visits will end in September.
