On Sunday Pope Benedict celebrates Mass with the Patriarch of Venice, Cardinal Angelo
Scola, at Mestre on the mainland before returning by boat to St Mark's Basilica and
a meeting with bishops from that north eastern region. He then travels by gondola
along the canals to the Basilica della Salute where he meets with representatives
from the world of culture and business. Among those addressing the Pope there
will be Msgr Brian Ferme, Rector of the Studium Generale Marcianum, a new academic
