Appointment of Coadjutor Archbishop in India


(April 09, 2011) Pope Benedict XVI appointed Saturday, Bishop John Moolachira, of Diphu, as Coadjutor Archbishop of Guwahati, in the North Eastern Indian state of Assam. Bishop Moolachira was born in Puthusserykadavu, in the south Indian state of Kerala, on the 14th of December 1951, ordained a priest 23rd October 1978, consecrated bishop on April 15th 2007 was assigned to the diocese of Diphu. The current Archbishop of the Shillong-Guwahati Archdiocese is 65-year old Salesian Archbishop Thomas Menamparambil. A Coadjutor bishop has a right to succession in the diocese.
