Caritas Bangladesh marls “National Day for Disabled Persons”
(April 07, 2011) Bangladesh Caritas, the Church’s social arm on Tuesday marked
the “National Day for Disabled Persons”. The Church reminded able-bodied people in
Bangladesh to care more for those less fortunate. Hundreds of physically and mentally
handicapped people attended rallies, discussion meetings and cultural functions under
the theme “Committed to the Development of the Autistic and Physically Disabled”.
About 100 people with special needs attended a special program organized by Caritas’
Development Initiatives for People with Disabilities (DIPD) project at Haluaghat,
in Mymensingh district. According to Bangladesh Caritas around 10% of Bangladesh’s
population has a disability.
