PIME missionaries launch " Japan Emergency Project"
(March, 23, 2011) The missionaries of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions
(PIME) who are in Japan, on Tuesday launched the “Japan Emergency Project." In a
letter explaining the project, they first thank everyone for remembering them
in their prayers. They say are all well, despite the terrible disaster the country
is going through. The earthquake, as you can imagine, was really massive, they write,
and the danger of radiation is still high. For the moment we have no intentions
of leaving, although the Italian embassy advises otherwise. We will see how things
go. As for fundraising, we PIME in Japan, have decided to make a contribution to the
national Caritas and a contribution to the Diocese of Sendai, the most affected by
the disaster. If there are any other specific needs, we will let you know. In the
meantime we have opened a “Japan Emergency project” to which all can subscribe.
