India’s Bangalore archdiocese aiding Japan’s victims


(March 21, 2011) The archdiocese of Bangalore in southern India’s Karnataka state on Thursday announced a million rupees for the rehabilitation of earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. The announcement was made during a March 17 programme organized in Bangalore city to pay homage to those affected by the natural calamity. Archbishop Bernard Moras and people from different communities took part in the programme, at which were also present officials of Bangalore’s Japanese Consulate, Shalini Walia and Pratima Sarkar. The participants expressed concerned over the changing climate across the globe, leading to disasters like earthquake and tsunami.
