(February 25, 2011) The first world congress on the Sacred Heart of Jesus that is
being organized this year in the birthplace of the devotion in France, is inviting
people to reflect on and spread God’s love for all. The Oct. 6-11 congress in Paray-le-Monial
aims to renew the sense of hope worldwide in the knowledge of God's unconditional
love for humanity, through the promotion of personal relationship with Jesus, Christ-centred
families, and a worldwide mission to bring this message to all people. One of the
congress organizers, Father William Petrie, provincial superior of the U.S. East Province
of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, said that the world’s
first Sacred Heart Congress was being held in the place where the tradition of enthronement
of the Sacred Heart in the home originated in 1907. He said at the congress training
will be given to promoters who would be available to share the information on enthronement
in their dioceses and parishes. He said the Sacred Heart of Jesus is an ongoing reminder
of living by the great law of love of God and love of neighbour. “This personal relationship
begins in the home. It is the ‘domestic Church,’" Fr. Petrie added.
