Vatican’s ambassador to Pakistan among 5 new bishops the Pope will ordain
(04 February, 2011) Pope Benedict XVI will ordain 5 new bishops for the Catholic
Church on Saturday at a Mas in St. Peter’s Basilica. Among them is the new Apostolic
Nuncio to Pakistan, Msgr. Edgar Peña Parra of Venezuela. Pope Benedict appointed
him Holy See’s ambassador to Pakistan on Wednesday, elevating him to the rank of archbishop.
The 59-year old priest from Maracaibo archdiocese is a priest sine 1985. Others
who will be consecrated bishop by the Pope are Salesian Msgr. Savio Hon Tai-Fai of
Hong Kong, secretary of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Evangelizzazione of Peoples,
Italian Mons. Marcello Bartolucci, Secretary of the Vatican’s Congregation for the
Causes of Saints, Spanish Msgr. Celso Morga Iruzubieta, secretary of the Vatican’s
Congregation for the Clergy, and Italian Msgr. Antonio Guido Filipazzi.Sedoc – Vatican’s
