Commonwealth Law Conference in Hyderabad to focus on human rights


(04 February, 2011) The prestigious Commonwealth Law Conference, the largest event of its kind in the common law world, kicks off on Saturday in Hyderabad, India. The Commonwealth Law Conference (CLC) is a prestigious event that brings together legal practitioners from all over the Commonwealth to debate current issues affecting practice and the profession, exchange views and experiences with colleagues and get up to date with the latest commercial products and services. The 17th Commonwealth Law Conference will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and Chief Justice of India S H Kapadia will deliver the keynote address. "Rule of Law: Challenges and Opportunities" is the theme of the Feb. 5-9 conference, which will hold 60 sessions focusing on human rights. Over 1,000 lawyers, judges, and legal academics from 54 Commonwealth countries are scheduled to attend. Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhury and Justice Sudershan Reddy of the Supreme Court of India will be among the speakers along with Sir Sidney Kentridge QC, a doyen of the English and South African Bars.
