The Governor of Lakes State in South Sudan, Chol Tong Mayay, is calling on the people
of South Sudan to begin focusing on ways of building their new nation, encouraging
a spirit of service and patriotism.
The Governor made the appeal during a press
conference in Rumbek this week.
He also asked the people to be patient during
the transition period, which is expected to conclude in July with the official announcement
of independence.
The Governor also said the efforts to build the new nation
must include a fight against corruption, which he described as one of the evils to
be confronted if the new nation is to be successful.
He urged South Sudan citizens
to embrace a life of service, and focus their attention on what they can contribute
to the new nation.
