Journey of the Magi- Jesuit Father Michael Paul Gallagher acting Dean
of Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University insists that while certainly the
journey of the magi is a marvellous tale which fuels the imagination of the young
, in reality it is a very adult story... We three kings of Orient are - "With gold
of obedience and incense of lowliness, kneel and adore him, the Lord is his name
!" Words that remind us that the Epiphany is a time when we come to adore the Lord
Jesus, just as the Magi did. They brought with them , gifts of gold, frankincense and
myrrh, which they presented to the new-born King. We too bring with us whatever we
can. We may think we have little to offer, bu the words of the hymn give us comfort...Monsignor
Philip Whitmore in a programme produced by Veronica Scarisbrick . Extra orbem
- Leo the Great, considered to be the most glorious Latinist among the Church
Fathers who lived 1600 years ago may now be buried in St Peter's but he has left
us a great written legacy . Our popular "Latin Lover " , Carmelite Father Reginald
Foster reads to us from a big fat tome containing some of these writings and upon
request reads extracts concernign the magi: " the children of the light ...throw
off the works of darkness..cast off lies ...throw out avarice...love generosity
..." A programme presented and produced by Veronica Scarisbrick . Listen:
