Indian Archbishop member of Pontifical Council for Health Pastoral Care
(January 05, 2011) Indian Archbishop Bernard Blasius Moras of Bangalore, Karnataka
State, is among the 18 new members appointed by Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday to
Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Health Pastoral Care. Born August 10, 1941 in Kuppepadavu,
Karnataka, he was ordained priest December 6, 1967 and consecrated Bishop on February
25, 1997. He was later named Archbishop of Bangalore July 22, 2004. Archbishop Moras
also chairs the Pastoral Commission for Health of the Catholic Bishops Conference
of India, CBCI, and is the Ecclesiastical Advisor to the Catholic Health Association
of India, CHAI. He is the President of the Regional Catholic Bishops’ Council.
