The Papal household is in mourning for the death of one of the four consecrated lay
women of Memores Domini, Manuela Camagni, who served the Holy Father. Ms. Camagni
was hit by a car near Nomentana, Rome, on Tuesday evening. Immediately transferred
to hospital, she died following an emergency operation. The Holy Father was informed
of the sad event before the celebration of Mass Wednesday morning and raised a prayer
in suffrage of her soul.
In the book; “Light of the World”, published yesterday,
the Pope speaks of everyday moments of his personal life spent together with his two
secretaries and the four Memores Domini. Before joining the Papal household in 2005,
Ms Camagni - born in 1954 in San Piero in Bagno, in Romagna - had worked in education
and from 1996 to 2001 served in Tunis during the tenure of Bishop. Fouad Twal. The
entire community of Vatican Radio expresses its closeness to the relatives of Manuela
and pontifical family affected by this sad and sudden bereavement.

Pope Benedict presided at the rites of "Ultima Commendatio" and "Valedictio" at the
end of the funeral Mass for Cardinal Urbano Navarrete S.J., who died on 22 November
at the age of 90. The Mass was celebrated by Cardinal Angelo Sodano, dean of the College
of Cardinals.
In his homily, the Holy Father described the late Spanish cardinal
as a "master of justice. The meticulous study and impassioned teaching of canon law
were the central element of his life. Educating the young generations in true justice,
the justice of Christ, the justice of the Gospel, was the ministry Cardinal Navarrete
accomplished over the course of his life".
