(November 17, 2010) Pope Benedict XVI will hold an Ordinary Public Consistory for
the creation of 24 new Cardinals in St. Peter’s Basilica on Saturday. The announcement
was made by the Office of the Liturgical celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff on Wednesday.
Among the 24 new Cardinals is also one from Asia, Sri Lankan Archbishop Malcolm
Ranjith of Colombo. On Sunday, 21st November on the Solemnity of Christ
the King, Pope Benedict will preside in St. Peter’s Basilica at a con-celebrated
Mass with the new cardinals, during which, he will give them the ring of office.
