(November 13, 2010) Apostolic Nuncio to India, Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, has
been appointed Apostolic Nuncio also to Nepal by Pope Benedict XVI. The announcement
was made in the Vatican on Saturday. The 58-year old Italian archbishop had been
appointed Apostolic Nuncio to India on May 8, taking over from Archbishop Pedro Lopez
Quintana, who served as Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal from 2003 to 2009. Archbishop
Salvatore Pennacchio had earlier served in various capacities in the Holy See’s diplomatic
mission, including as Apostolic Nuncio in Rwanda, Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia,
and Apostolic Delegate in Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia and Brunei.
