Pope sends condolences following death of former Argentine President

Pope Benedict has sent a telegram of condolence to the wife and family of former president of Argentina Nestor Kirchner who died of a heart attack on Wednesday.In the message to Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, President of Argentina the Pope said he offered fervent prayers to God for his eternal rest. The Holy Father also expressed "deep sentiments of sorrow " to the President, her children and for the rest of the family of the deceased dignitary, as well as for the government and for the people of the beloved nation of Argentina".
Yesterday, tens of thousands of Argentines paid tribute to Nestor Kirchner, as his coffin lay in state at the Presidential palace.
