(October 25, 2010) Pope Benedict XVI received President James Alix Michel of Seychelles
in the Vatican on Monday and the two talked about areas of church-state collaboration
especially with regard to human dignity. A statement issued by the Vatican after
the meeting said the two sides expressed great satisfaction over the Holy See-Seychelles
relations and exchanged views on issues of common interest. They particularly talked
about the commitment and collaboration in promoting human dignity, especially with
regard to great social questions such as the family, education of youth and the protection
of the environment. Later, President Michel also met Vatican Secretary of State,
Cardinal Tarcision Bertone and Vatticn Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop
Dominique Mamberti.
