Natural disaster reduction under the spotlight

The 13^th of October is International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction.The theme for this year is “my city is getting ready” which aims to highlight the importance of protecting cities from disasters.
Speaking to Vatican Radio, Christian Aid’s Senior policy officer on building disaster resilient communities, Catherine Nightingale, says this year has seen significant disasters seen and felt around the world.

She also adds that, "what they see in the course of their work with the poorest and most vulnerable is that “they are the people hit hardest and hit furthest by these kinds of disasters."
