The Synod of the Ukrainian Catholic Bishops concluded today in Lviv. The two main
topics discussed at the synod were evangelization and migration. In particular, they
spoke about how to support Ukrainians who have left their home and are now living
in countries with no structures to allow them to stay faithful to their church and
its traditions.
Bishop Peter Stasiuk said Ukrainian Catholics in other countries
represent “an opportunity for the local churches, in particular the Roman Catholic
church, to meet them and to become acquainted with the traditions, history, culture
of the Ukrainian Greek catholic church.”
The Ukrainian Catholic church has
over 6 million members worldwide, of which nearly half are outside of the Ukraine.
