One of the Beatles came home one afternoon to to find his mother clutching a set
of rosary beads and praying . She had just been told she had an incurable disease
and had turned to a traditional Catholic prayer. As Monsignor Peter Fleetwood
tells us there's a story that the scene inspired Paul McCartney to write one of
his most popular songs... "...When I find
myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom: Let
it be!"...
"...Paul McCartney must have known Our Lady's life story well,
because "Let it be" is what she said when the angel told her God would be with her
- "be it done unto me according to Thy Word . Please never turn your nose up to
the rosary, Paul didn't ..."
"...I really worry about future generations of
Catholics who know very few prayers and are really not used to God being part of their
daily lives..."
