Indian Christians Still Live in Fear Two Years After Violence


(24 Aug 10 - RV) Two years ago to the day, a violent anti-Christian persecution erupted in the Kandhamal district of the Indian state of Orissa -  a second and more intense wave of persecution than that which had preceded it in December of 2007.

All told, 93 people were killed and 56 thousand others were driven from their homes, though the perpetrators of the violence remain as yet unpunished.

In an effort to dramatize the situation and call for justice, the National Solidarity Forum (NSF) set up a National People's Tribunal involving former judges, activists, journalists and political analysts who conducted three days of informal hearings in New Delhi, which concluded today.
