(21 Aug 10 - RV) Catholics in Atlanta Georgia today celebrate the 130th anniversary
of their oldest city centre community, the parish of the Sacred Heart. Marking the
occasion the Vatican has decided that the parish Church be designated a Basilica.
The
Mass of Elevation was presided over by Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory, with the participation
of local clergy, religious and parishioners.
Father T.J. Meehan, is pastor
and rector of Georgia’s first and only basilica, he spoke to us about his community
and its hopes for the future.
