(Aug.04,2010) As India prepares to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Blessed
Teresa of Kolkata on August 26, Indian Railways plan to launch a train named in honour
of the “saint of the gutters” as she was popularly called. "We have decided to launch
the new train after Mother Teresa, as a tribute to her on occasion of her birth centenary,"
said Mamta Banerjee, the federal railway minister. She said that the train’s carriages
will be painted blue, to recall the trademark border of the white cotton saris worn
by the Missionaries of Charity, the religious order that Mother Teresa founded. Keeping
the route of the new train a secret, the federal minister said it would certainly
connect important destinations in the country. Meanwhile, a documentary film on
Mother Teresa, produced by Sunil Jindal and titled “The Living Legend Mother Teresa”
was released 30th July at the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India Centre, New Delhi,
by Archbishop Vincent M. Concessao. “Living Legend Mother Teresa” is among 18 films
that will be screened across major cities in India during Mother Teresa’s birth centenary
