(03 Aug 10 – RV) With only 43 days to go until Pope Benedict XVI’s historic state
visit to Great Britain, the Bishops of Scotland, England and Wales are finalising
details for pilgrims who want to participate in the liturgical ceremonies presided
over by the Holy Father.
They have prepared what they are calling the ‘pilgrim
passport’ containing all the information pilgrims will need to participate in the
journey and the celebrations
The Bishops also announced today that the pilgrim
contribution for the Hyde Park Vigil has been reduced to 5 pounds sterling and reaffirmed
that the contribution for the Masses in Bellahouston and Cofton Park is not ‘a charge
to go to mass’.
Mgr. Andrew Summersgill is Papal Visit Co-ordinator. He
said the contribution is above all “an act of solidarity”, similar to registration
