CAFOD Calls for Legally Binding Agreement on Emissions Cuts
(03 Aug 10 – RV) The United States has assured international negotiators it remains
committed to reducing carbon emissions over the next 10 years, despite the collapse
of efforts to legislate a climate bill.
The announcement came as delegations
from 178 countries met in the German city to begin a five-day meeting intended to
prepare a successor agreement to the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012.
