Increased Commitment to Fighting Militants in Somalia
(28 July 10 - RV) African leaders are pledging thousands of new troops for Somalia
to fight al-Qaida-linked militants responsible for the twin World Cup bombings
that killed 76 people, and the U.S. says it will help bankroll the military campaign. The
Apostolic Administrator for Mogadishu, Bishop Giorgio Bertin welcomed the increased
commitment, though he also said the ultimate solution to Somalia’s woes will not be
a purely military one…
