(7 July 10 - RV) It has been announced a former Tiananmen democracy activist, Liu
Xianbin, has been arrested by Chinese police and charged with "incitement to subvert
state power" for articles on the internet. He is the second signatory of the Charter
08 to be arrested in recent months. Signed in 2008, the document calls for political
reform and religious freedom and for the Chinese government to respect human rights.
The editor of the Asianews website, Pontifical Missionary Father Bernardo Cervellera
says pressure is being put on the supporters of Charter 08 because it is having an
influence on the people of China…
