Spain’s Bishops decry Abortion Law

(July 06,2010) As Spain's liberalized abortion law went into effect on Tuesday, the nation's bishops reiterated that the measure is incompatible with an upright moral conscience.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the prelates condemned the abortion law saying: "We speak in favor of those, who have a right to be born and to be received by their parents with love; we speak in favor of mothers, who have the right to receive the social and state support necessary to avoid becoming victims of abortion; we speak in favor of the liberty of parents and of the schools that collaborate with them, to give their children an emotional and sexual formation, in keeping with moral convictions that truly prepare them to be parents and to accept the gift of life; we speak in favor of a society that has the right to count on just laws that do not confuse injustice with rights,"said the bishops of Spain.
