Year for Priests reveals spiritual treasure in Dhaka
(June 22, 2010) In Bangladesh, the Year for the Priests, that has just concluded
was an opportunity to reveal a hidden treasure for the people and the Church, said
Archbishop Paulinus Costa of Dhaka, stressing on the importance the past year proclaimed
by Pope Benedict XVI for the Church. He said the pastors of Bangladesh shared their
experiences, while rediscovering the beauty of taking part in the love of Christ,
as God's chosen ministers. Several meetings and seminars organized for the Year allowed
them to address the issues of priestly formation, he added.The laity also got the
chance to share their experiences. Anthony, a young Catholic layman said he was really
surprised to see how the priests love us and work for us, giving us everything they
have. He said he is praying that he hears God's call, as he hopes to become a priest.
The Year for Priests ended June 18 in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka with mass
in the Church of the Holy Rosary and a meeting on the “Priesthood and missionary
work”, which was attended by hundreds of priests, some 50 nuns and more than 500
faithful
