(19 June 10 - RV) Millions of dollars in funding to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria
that goes to Zambia's government is being suspended by the Global Fund. Global
Fund officials interrupted funding due to findings of fraud on the part of some government
officials, but maintain that aid is being channelled through other non-governmental
aid organizations to the country. Andrew Herst is the Spokesman for the Global
Fund. He said that the interruption in part of the funding is temporary, and that
this type of situation often motivates governments to correct their mistakes.
