UN Security Council Set to Impose Sanctions on Iran
(09 Jun 10 - RV) The U.N. Security Council is set to impose a new round of
sanctions on Iran today over a nuclear program that Western powers suspect is aimed
at developing atomic weapons. The 15-nation council is due to meet later to vote
on a draft resolution that was the product of five months of talks between the United
States, Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia. U.S. Ambassador to the United
Nations Susan Rice says the US remains committed to its dual track approach, and is determined
to pass the resolution. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad meanwhile, has warned
Iran will not agree to talks on its nuclear program if a fourth round of UN sanctions
