Islamic Militants Attack Mosques of Minority Muslim Sect in Pakistan
(RV - 28 May 10) Suspected Islamic militants attacked two mosques packed with hundreds
of worshippers from a minority Islamic group in eastern Pakistan Friday, holding hostages
and battling police.
More than 70 people died, and dozens were wounded in two
neighbourhoods of the country’s second largest city, Lahore.
The attacks were
against the Ahmadi sect of Islam, which has often been targeted by radical Sunni groups
in the past. Peter Jacob is the Executive Secretary for the National Commission
