Conference on Nuclear Disarmament in Iran

(RV - 17 Apr 2010) Iran today opened conference on nuclear disarmament, seeking to shift world attention away from its own pursuit of nuclear technology and onto countries already armed with atomic weapons.
The conference follows a nuclear summit hosted by US President Barack Obama earlier this week, during which he pressed for bold, swift sanctions on Iran.

The summit brought together leaders from 47 countries to take joint action to prevent terrorist groups from getting nuclear weapons.

Fr. Paul Lansu of Pax Christi International says the summit was a good initiative ahead of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference which will take place in New York in May.
