Bishops in Europe Praise Courage of Abuse Victims.
(01 Apr 10 - RV) The Swiss Conference of Catholic Bishops yesterday issued a declaration
regarding sexual abuse in pastoral activity.
In the document the Bishops say
they are mortified and appalled at cases of clerical sexual abuse and urge victims
to come forward
Meanwhile, The Primate of All Ireland Cardinal Sean Brady
yesterday met with survivors of Clerical Sexual Abuse and survivors groups. The
encounter was held as part of an ongoing series of meetings between survivors of sexual
abuse by clergy and Church representatives.
And in Austria Cardinal
Christoph Schoenborn yesterday praised victims of clerical sexual abuse for breaking
their silence and coming forward.
The Cardinal who was addressing a congregation
in St Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna also said that some in the church took advantage
and destroyed the trust of children.
