(24 Mar 10 - RV) Today the people of El Salvador are marking the anniversary of the
murder of Archbishop Oscar Romero, who was shot dead while saying mass on this date
30 years ago.
Archbishop Romero became known as the “Bishop of the People”,
speaking out for the poor and the victims of the Salvadoran Civil War.
We spoke
to the Communications Officer for Latin American Sarah Smith-Pearse at the UK based
Catholic aid organisation CAFOD.
She says Oscar Romero is an admired figure
across the Christian churches.
