Italy Takes on Google over Youtube Bullying Case

(25 Feb 10 - RV) An Italian judge has held three Google executives criminally responsible for an video of a teenager with Downs Syndrome being bullied that was posted on the Google owned YouTube website.

Google says the decision endangers the idea of a free and open internet, since the costs involved in reviewing every video posted to a site like YouTube would force it to be shutdown.

However, the prosecutor says the verdict puts the protection of innocent individuals over the concerns of a business.

Kishore Jayabalan is the director of the Rome-office of the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty.

He says that the Italian prosecutors needed to look at who was really responsible for the wrongdoing...
